A detailed and emotional discussion about the outstanding parameters and possibilities of the UMT testers for friction and wear investigations on nano+ micro+ macro levels aroused after TTZH presentation (lecturer Dr. Alexander Minewitsch) at 55th Tribology Colloquium of the GFT (German Society of Tribologists) Sachsen-Anhalt local section on 20 June 2006 at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, which was organized by Prof. Gerd Fleischer and Prof. Ludger Deters.

Specific questions discussed during this meeting went far beyond the multisensing technology for tribotests only and included also mechanical characterization of surfaces using nanoindentation techniques, integrated atomic force microscopy, creep tests, high temperature investigations, etc.
